President Biden has reverted to the Naturalization (civics and history) Exam that had existed prior to the Trump administration’s amendments by which the test was lengthened and the pool from which potential questions were drawn was enlarged. The Biden Administration has discarded those changes, and will now use the version put into place in 2008 which is shorter in length and contains a smaller pool of questions.
Immigrants who filed their naturalization applications between December 1, 2020 and March 1, 2021 will be able to choose which test to take. The 2008 exam version will be administered to anyone whose naturalization interview is scheduled or April 1, 2021 or later.
