Republican and Democrat Senator Present Joint Plan for Immigration Reform 

New York Democrat Senator Charles Schumer and South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and Submit Proposed Joint Plan for Immigration Reform Legislation

In an editorial published in Sunday’s Washington Post newspaper, Democratic Senator Charles Schumer from New York and Republican Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina published a plan for immigration reform legislation. The plan has numerous goals, including creation of a tough but fair path toward legalization for the 11 million people currently in the US without authorization. The process would include registration, undergoing a background check, as well as paying a fine and back taxes. Cella & Associates, along with many immigration reform advocates, are encouraged by these recent attempts to help those who wish to obtain legal status in the United States.
