Temporary Protected Status (TPS) remains in effect until at least November 18, 2025 for citizens of Honduras, Nepal and Nicaragua after a federal judge blocked the termination of the program. TPS offers protections to citizens of authorized countries where there is crisis, including for example, war or environmental occurrences. The Department of Homeland Security can offer protection to those citizens allowing them work authorizations and delay of deportations. The status was originally terminated when the current administration determined that the conditions in the home countries no longer warranted them. The termination was challenged arguing that there was not an objective review of home country conditions and that the decision may have also had some racial undertones.
The November end date could change as the case is ongoing.
