DHS designates Ethiopia for TPS
Ethiopia is the latest country whose citizens may qualify for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) in the United States. A country may be designated for TPS if one or more of the following exist in that country: Environmental disaster, ongoing armed conflict or extraordinary and temporary conditions. Ethiopia meets two of the requirements with ongoing armed conflict and extraordinary and temporary conditions. This is Ethiopia’s first TPS designation. Ethiopians may qualify for the protected status if they have been residing in the United States as of October 20, 2022.
