A new report from the American Immigration Council reveals that immigrant entrepreneurs play a crucial role in job creation and economic growth in the U.S. As of 2024, 46% of Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants or their children—the highest percentage since tracking began in 2011.
These companies, including Amazon, DoorDash, and Apple, employ 15.5 million people globally. The report highlights that in 2023, immigrant-founded Fortune 500 companies generated $8.6 trillion in revenue, making them the world’s third-largest economy if considered a separate nation.
States like New York, California, and Texas benefit the most, hosting a significant number of these companies. The report emphasizes the importance of immigrants in addressing economic challenges such as labor shortages and an aging population. Experts from The American Immigration Council are available for further comment on the positive impact of immigrants at both national and state levels.
