Temporary Protected Status Designations for El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua Reinstated and Extended for 18 Month
From: USCIS
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has reinstated and extended the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) designations for El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, and Nicaragua for 18 months. This decision, made by Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas, comes after careful consideration of the conditions in these countries. Current TPS beneficiaries must re-register within specified periods to maintain their status. The extension provides stability and support to approximately 239,000 beneficiaries in El Salvador, 76,000 in Honduras, 14,500 in Nepal, and 4,000 in Nicaragua. The automatic extension of TPS designations in increments ensures continued protection for those who meet the eligibility requirements.
