As of September 10, 2024, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has extended the validity period for Permanent Resident Cards (Green Cards) to 36 months for those renewing their cards through Form I-90. This change applies to lawful permanent residents who file Form I-90 to replace an expiring or expired Green Card. Previously, receipt notices provided a 24-month extension. The updated Form I-90 receipt notices now reflect a 36-month extension from the expiration date of the current Green Card. USCIS began issuing these amended receipts on September 10 for pending Form I-90 applications.
